Pierre Clastres and the Studies on War in Non-State Societies
Abstract
The present article briefly reviews the studies on warfare in non-State societies throughout the twentieth century and fi rst decade of the present century. It particularly evaluates the incidence of Pierre Clastres' work on such studies, aiming at the necessity to conciliate his thought with relevant investigations recently carried out in anthropology, sociology, history and archaeology.
