Abstract

This article considers the discursive configurations of Grandmothers of Plaza deMayo as they appear in their first institutional text, Botín de guerra (Spoils of War) (1985), with the purpose of focusing on the conditions of the Association’s possibility of emergence. More specifically, from a discursive and post-feminist the oretical approach, we analyze the process of subjection of the organization, to show how, having emerged in a context of enunciation hegemonized by the dictatorship, it sets in motion a series of rhetorical subversions, appropriating and displacing some of the key signifiers of the “Proceso de Reorganización Nacional” (National Reorganization Process), in particular those linked to the conservative rhetoric of ‘the family’, and at the same time, dislocates the positions of gendered subject.
