The objectives of Restorative Social Practices (PSR) are aimed at repairing damage and strengthening coexistence through the active participation of the community in addressing conflicts.
With the objective of identifying the key elements to successfully incorporate restorative social practices into mediation services and citizen coexistence at the local level, research techniques based on qualitative analysis through questionnaires have been used and a focus group has been completed with people who are experts in citizen mediation and restorative practices. This has allowed us to collect information on the current situation of mediation programs and to identify the similarities and differentiating elements between restorative practices and community mediation based on the perception of the local agents themselves. Additionally, an interpretative phenomenological analysis has been carried out to identify the challenges that must make it possible to successfully incorporate restorative practices into local mediation programs and services.
The article emphasizes that their integration poses challenges related to conventional perception by the community, the roles of professional mediators, community participation and the evaluation of success. Addressing these challenges is crucial to achieve an effective integration of restorative social practices in the local area.
